Matthew James "Lil Man" Bailey, 14, of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday (March 12, 2013) as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Born March 18, 1998, in Joliet, Matt was the son of Geri Ann Cameron (nee Jones) and James A. Bailey. He was raised in Joliet, prior to moving to Wilmington in the seventh grade. Matt was currently a freshman at Wilmington High School and will be remembered for his enjoyment of playing baseball and bow hunting.
Survivors include his mother, Geri Ann Cameron, of Romeoville; father and stepmother, James A. and Kelly Bailey, of Wilmington; brothers and sisters, Jessica Bailey (Charles Mooney), of Joliet, and Philip Riggs, Jeffrey Redman and Ryan Bailey, all of Wilmington; maternal grandmother, Jeanette Jones, of Joliet; paternal grandmother, Nancy Fury, of Rockdale; stepgrandmother, Susan Dorsett, of Avon Lake, Ohio; stepgreat-grandmothers, Margaret Dorsett, of Manhattan, and Norma Geiss, of Wilmington; nephew, Johnathan Mooney; and aunts and uncles, Larry Jones, of Joliet, Mike Bailey and Diane Bailey, both of Rockdale, and Donald Dorsett, of Avon Lake.
Matt was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Larry Jones and Dee Ray Bailey; and stepgrandfather, William Dorsett.
Visitation and video tribute will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Freitag-Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Road in Wilmington. Private family funeral services will follow Friday with Deacon Don Dyer officiating. Matt will be laid to rest later in Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville. Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Matt's memory to his family for their distribut
